Nederlands: Schedel van een Triceratops brevicorus in het Mineralogisch-Geologisch Museum Delft
Triceratops brevicornus, "met de korte hoorn". Het plesiotype van deze soort was YPM 1832, een in 1891 gevonden schedel met onderkaken waaraan het uiteinde van de snuit, de punten van de wenkbrauwhoorns, en de rand van het nekschild ontbreken. In 1956 werd deze schedel door het Mineralogisch-Geologisch Museum van de Technische Hogeschool Delft geruild voor fossielen die Hendrik Albertus Brouwer op Timor had opgegraven. Tijdens het transport naar Nederland raakte het specimen door een storm en het herhaaldelijk laten vallen van de krat zwaar beschadigd. Het werd door Pieter Kruizinga, enigszins fantasierijk, in een jaar tijd gerestaureerd. Toen het museum tussen 2013 en 2015 opgeheven was, ging de schedel over in de collectie van Naturalis voor een moderne reconstructie. |
