This Washoe burden basket was the first museum object ever cataloged in the National Park Service. Cataloging museum objects is one of the basic steps necessary for knowing what is in the collection and to make it available for educational purposes, such as this exhibit. It was purchased by the donor around 1890. This basket is 25 inches high and is made of willow and commercial rattan strips. |
