Note:
Apelles was the painter choised by Alexander the Great in order to immortalize his public image as earthy deity. Apelles was also the father of King Philipp II of Macedonia and some of Alexander's most important Generals. Apelles was accused of the high treason before King Ptolemaios IV of Egypt and arrested in the prison after. Later however, King Ptolemaios realized the innocence of Apelles and let him free and banned the detractor into the slavery. This painting is one of the greatest artworks of the Renaissance which appreciates the new spirit of freedom in the society. The Venus in the painting (left area, not on the stamp) is the "Goddess of Trueness".
