A pair of XL4015-based CC-CV buck converter modules

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A pair of stepdown (buck type) DC-DC converter modules built around the XL4015 IC. One potentiometer on each board controls output voltage (CV mode), another limits output current (CC mode). Costs around 2 US dollars each, including delivery from China. This is a stripped-downed version of a similar XL4005 module, which seem to be no more available in 2022. The XL4005 operates at higher switching frequency and had superior voltage and current ratings, but without a proper heatsink this is all irrelevant as neither chip can reach its 5A rated current, not even close. And for currents of 2A or less both are quite good. Note that it's not just dissipation in the converter chip, but more importantly in the flyback diode and also the coil.
