The ring is then passedbeneath the patient and so manipulated that the shadowof the ring surrounds that of the foreign body. Thispoint is marked and the ring is removed. Without mov-ing tube or patient the same procedure is undertakenwith the ring over the body and again the point ismarked. The patient is now turned and, with tube anddiaphragm in the same position a second pair of marksis secured. Three or even four pairs tend to still greateraccuracy. By marks either of distinctive color or of dis-tinctive shape each pair should be made easily distin-guishable from every other pair. The accurate markingof such points as occur on the under aspect of the patientmay offer some difficulty.
