ed thatthe hand will be protected from stray rays during theexamination. Or, the screen may be covered by a hoodso as to shut out other light. This hood is usually ar-ranged in a pyramidal form. The depth of this pyramidmust be at least the average focal distance for the eyes.This fluoroscope may have attached a handle by whichit can be supported, or if of small size such as 5 x 7the entire fluoroscope may be attached by means of ahead band to the head. This arrangement is considereduseful for the localization and extraction of foreignbodies. Such a fluoroscope has been described by Dr. Dessane(Gallot et Cie)1 Figs. 1, 2, 3. A spring attachedacross the hinge line will hold the fluoroscope down inits working position or when tilted over it will beheld by the same spring in position on top of thehead.
