Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wycombe Wanderers FC: Adams Park Woodlands Stand The picturesque Adams Park must be the only football ground in the country where one can watch red kites whirling over the nearby woods during halftime or lulls in the play. The ground was opened in 1990 and this is the large stand on the south side of the pitch, known generally as the Woodlands Stand. Originally it was just a terrace but converted into the current two tier stand with a near 5,000 seat capacity in 1996. Currently the lower tier is known as the Nexus Community Stand and the upper tier as the Frank Adams Stand. Frank Adams was the club's former captain and the major benefactor in getting the stadium built, and the ground was named after him, so when the club sold naming rights to the stadium to a local technology company, Causeway, between 2003 and 2006 it caused justifiable anger amongst some supporters. Today's match was an FA Cup 1st Round tie between Wycombe Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion. See 1572498 and 1572502. Alas the game attracted a paltry attendance of 2,749 paying spectators, with vast swathes of empty seats visible in the Woodlands Stand, encouraging the Albion faithful into a stirring rendition of "There's no-one there, there's no-one there", which involves random pointing of arms to deserted areas of the stadium.
