Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Zushi Ta. Foguang Si

This early brick pagoda (ta) is located to one side of the East Great Hall. It is dated variously to the late 6th century or Tang. The pagoda is hexagonal in plan. Its body is divided into two apparent storeys; the walls are unpierced, except for the one lower-storey niche that is visible in the photo. The circular niche arches, on both storeys, are crowned by mandorlas. The eaves are extended in corbeling, and the pagoda is crowned by a tall, lotus-bud finial.
