Deutsch: Friedrich II. ,Eisenzahn' (geb. 1413, gest. 1471, von 1440 bis 1470 Kurfürst von Brandenburg)
Der Erbauer des ersten Berliner Schlosses, der Berlin zur Residenzstadt machte Friedrich heiratete 1441 Katharina von Sachsen, mit der er vier Kinder hatte. Da dem Vater Friedrich I. sein erster Sohn ungeeignet schien, hob er kurz vor seinem Tod die Primogenitur, das Erbrecht des Erstgeborenen, auf. Danach konnte er die Hohenzollernschen Erblande unter seinen vier Söhnen aufteilen. Zum Nachfolger in der Mark Brandenburg bestimmte er seinen zweiten Sohn Friedrich. Der hatte bereits zu Lebzeiten des Vaters ab 1437 die Regierungsgeschäfte übernommen. Die anderen drei Söhne erhielten die süddeutschen Besitzungen und die Altmark. Friedrich nutzte einen Streit zwischen dem Rat und den Bürgern der Doppelstadt Berlin-Cölln aus und marschierte mit 600 Soldaten ein. Er löste die gemeinsame Stadtverwaltung auf, nahm der Stadt die Gerichtsbarkeit und wirtschaftlich wichtige Privilegien wie das Stapelrecht und den Torzoll. An der ,Langen Brücke4 über der Spree errichtete er eine Zwingburg, um den Handelsverkehr zu kontrollieren und sich die Zolleinnahmen dieses wichtigen Flussübergangs zu sichern. Dieses neue Schloss wählte Friedrich als Residenz und als Sitz der kurfürstlichen Verwaltungsbehörden. 1465 stiftete Friedrich II. den Berliner Dom. Weil seine beiden Söhne bereits im Kindesalter gestorben waren, übergab er die Regierung an seinen jüngeren Bruder Albrecht Achilles. Friedrich II. starb am 10. Februar 1471. |
