Sockel des Hochkreuzes auf dem katholischen Friedhof Hochstraße in Wuppertal. Es markiert zugleich die Grablege der Pfarrer der den Friedhof tragenden Gemeinde St. Laurentius. Im Bild die Grabplatte für deren ersten, auf dessen Initiative der Bau der Pfarrkirche, der heutigen Basilica minor und Dekanatskirche zurückging. Da man um diese herum aber nicht mehr wie in früheren Zeiten bestatten durfte, musste man aus dem Tal auf den Berg ziehen, wo gerade erst auch die reformierte und die lutherische Gemeinde ihre Friedhöfe in direkter Nachbarschaft neu angelegt hatten. |
