पूजन का समय :- हर वर्ष हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार चैत्र महीने के कृष्ण पक्ष अष्टमी को और कैलेंडर के अनुसार 14 मार्च 2023 को सुबह 8:00 बजे शीतलाष्टमी का त्यौहार मनाया जाता है,शीतला माता का पूजन किया जाता है ,उनको भोग चढ़ाया जाता है। यह भोग(भोजन) पूजन से ठीक 1 दिन पहले यानी कि 13 मार्च 2023 की शाम को बनाया जाता है। उस दिन कोई भी यह भोजन नहीं खाता,इसको चढ़ाने के बाद ही खाया जाता है ।शीतला माता के पूजन से 1 दिन पहले किसी एक बड़े बर्तन में जो कि पहले मिट्टी का हुआ करता था, मे पानी भर कर रख दिया जाता है और सुबह जब माता का पूजन किया जाता है उस समय उस पानी के बर्तन पर रंग और टीका लगाया जाता है। उसके पास एक शीतला माता की तस्वीर या मूर्ति (पत्थर की हो सकती) रखकर उनका पूजन किया जाता है। माता के शरीर के ऊपर एक लाल रंग का कपड़ा रखा जाता है, उनको तिलक किया जाता है। माता की मूर्ति के सामने तीन गोबर और तीन राख(लकड़ी की) के पिंड(गोले) बनाकर रखे जाते हैं और स्थानीय क्षेत्र में पाया जाने वाला पौधा आक(आकड़ा) के फूलों को तोड़ कर रखा जाता है। एक दिन पहले जो खाना बना कर रखा हुआ होता है, सुबह माता को चढ़ाया जाता है। इसे चढ़ावा कहते है। उस समय परिवार के सभी सदस्य वहां पर बैठते हैं पूजा अर्चना करते हैं और बच्चों की माता जी सभी को तिलक(टिका) लगाती और उसके बाद सभी खाना खाते हैं। कहा जाता है कि शीतला माता का वाहन गधा है । इसी कारण माताएं( जो शीतला माता का पूजन करती) अपने बच्चों को गधे की आवाज निकालने के लिए कहती है । जब बच्चे, गधे की आवाज निकालते है तो माताजी बच्चों की पीठ थपथपाती है। बिल्कुल शाबाशी की तरह है।

 Time of worship :- Every year according to the Hindu Panchang, on the Krishna Paksha Ashtami of Chaitra month and according to the calendar, on March 14, 2023, at 8:00 am, the festival of Sheetalashtami is celebrated, Sheetla Mata is worshipped, and food is offered to her.  Is.  This bhog (food) is made just 1 day before the worship i.e. on the evening of 13 March 2023.  No one eats this food on that day, it is eaten only after offering it. One day before the worship of Sheetla Mata, water is kept in a big vessel, which used to be earthen earlier, and in the morning  When Mata is worshipped, color and tika are applied on that water vessel.  She is worshiped by placing a picture or idol (may be of stone) of Sheetla Mata near her.  A red colored cloth is placed over the mother's body, Tilak is applied to her.  Three cow dung and three ash (wooden) balls are kept in front of the mother's idol and plucked flowers of Aak (Aakda), a plant found in the local area, are kept.  The food that is prepared a day before is offered to the mother in the morning.  This is called offering.  At that time all the members of the family sit there, offer prayers and the mother of the children applies tilak (tika) to all and after that all eat food.  It is said that the vehicle of Sheetla Mata is a donkey.  That is why mothers (who worship Sheetla Mata) ask their children to make the sound of a donkey.  When the children make the sound of a donkey, the mother pats the children on the back.  It's like a compliment.
Offering (Food):- The food that is made to offer food to Sheetla Mata.  It mainly consists of rice which is made by adding jaggery.  Along with this, fried things like pakoras, bhujia etc. are made in some oil.
Significance :- After this festival, food is cooked and eaten before evening in the entire spring season.  Eating after dusk is considered a sin.

Scientific basis :- The number of small insects, bacteria, moths, microbes etc. increases a lot in the spring season. These insects, moths and insects are attracted towards light. When food is cooked after dusk, these insects and moths can fall into the food in the glow of light. This contaminates the food. Eating it has a bad effect on health.
