Summary
[edit]DescriptionWorkshop on Experimental Structural Dynamics, Structural Health Monitoring and non Destructive Evaluation using Smart materials.png |
English: This workshop will focus on the theoretical and the practical aspects of structural dynamics, structural health monitoring and non-destructive evaluation (NDE) of structures using smart materials. It will touch upon modern tools and sensing technologies necessary for health monitoring/NDE of structures. The concept structural health monitoring (SHM) has been receiving considerable attention worldwide as well as India. Deteriorating structure or machinery can have serious implications on safety and performance. SHM enables prompt identification and localization of damage before it attains serious level.
This workshop has been designed to cover the basic concepts and application of SHM based on the principles of structural dynamics with the aid of smart materials. The speakers will cover a detailed introduction about structural dynamics, available sensor technologies (accelerometers, strain gauges, piezo - transducers and fibre-Bragg grating sensors), non-destructive evaluation of concrete and the algorithms with case studies chosen across the world. The workshop will cover practical sessions for hands on experience of the participants with existing as well as the new sensing technologies developed by Dr. Suresh Bhalla's research group. The workshop will be of immense interest to practicing civil, mechanical, aerospace and instrumentation Engineers. The workshop will provide the participants an opportunity to interact with Dr. Bhalla's team consisting of dedicated research scholars and M. Tech. students.
