"Das hier gezeigte Porträt Maria Theresias dürfte nach 1742 in enger Anlehnung an eines der Herrscherporträts Maria Theresias von 1740-1744 aus der Hand Martin van Mytens d. J. entstanden sein. Die Porträts zeigen einen offenbar von der Erzherzogin bevorzugten Bildaufbau und -Modus. Häufig sind diese Bilder aus Anlass der Krönungen zur Königin von Ungarn, Kroatien und Böhmen gefertigt worden, was das Vorhandensein der Kronen in den Bildern sowie das festliche Kostüm erklärt."
