| Description |
English: Wootton Halt. This is the former railway station on the closed King's Lynn to Hunstanton railway line. For a close-up view of the old station clock see > 1528194.
The station was was opened in 1862 and later modified by the GER (Great Eastern Railway). The train journey took about one hour. It had an up and a down platform, with the main station buildings on the up side and waiting rooms on the down platform. The main building was L-shaped and consisted of a two-storey stationmaster's residence (seen at right) and an adjoining booking office. A signal box controlled the crossing gates on Station Road, at the southern end of the platforms. The station closed along with the line in 1969 but the station buildings, now part of North Wootton's Scouts and Guides headquarters, have survived.
