| Description |
English: Woodland path at the Branston Water Park - 2 Nearby is a useful notice board, which describes this as wet woodland or 'carr'. Planting is mainly willow, oak, birch and ash, and it is home to the great spotted woodpecker, treecreeper, chiffchaff and woodmouse. I didn't see them. It was pouring down, so they were all probably sheltering and sniggering at me as I walked by. I thought conditions were good for fungus spotting, but I didn't see the fly agaric, bolete or ink cap mushrooms either. Still, the tree colour provided the atmosphere and easily made up for the weather. |
