Description

Woodford Academy -- Formerly known as Woodford House, was erected in the early twenties, and in its original state became the residence if the commanding officer in charge of the road gangs." - Frank Walker
Built in early 1800's in the Blue Mountains region Woodford house existed for many years as an inn, originally the Woodman, later known as the King’s Arms from 1840 onwards and finally as Buss’ Inn after 1855. Following this, the building was converted into private home where it was officially named Woodford House. Later the building became Woodford Academy, a private all boys’ education facility, and for some periods existed as a guesthouse, a day school for local children, a boarding house and as a private residence. It is currently a heritage-listed building.
