Description
English: Wood Field The name of this section of the field according to the 1844 tithe map that has been enlarged to include Barn Field to the south and Long Field and Three Cornered Field to the east out of shot. Many of these changes have only occurred in the last thirty years. Just visible at the bottom of the field on the left is Chapel Farm barn, a Victorian flint structure, that has now been converted into a bed and breakfast. Beyond the early morning haze means the normally visible northern escarpment of the South Downs can only be viewed in silhouette, the distinctive crown of Blackcap the only landmark that can be made out on the right.
