Description

Photograph of a seated woman in an actress-pose and wearing lipstick, by T & J Holroyd of Harrogate. The photographers were brothers Thomas Holroyd (1821–1904) and James Holroyd (c.1825–1874). Thomas was a portrait and landscape painter, and James was a photographer, both from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Although they were both credited, it was James who took most of the photographs.

Note: This is an odd pose, which gives the impression that her right arm is missing - but that may be just the angle of the photograph. She is wearing a wedding ring on her left hand. Behind and below her left hand are possibly the fingers of her right hand, so she probably has the elbow of her right arm hidden, over the back of the chair.
