[edit]DescriptionWoman's grave goods from Castel Trosino, Italy.jpg |
English: Romanic-style woman's jewellery from Grave 32, Castel Trosino
Following the destruction of the eponymous castle during the Gothic Wars, it was occupied in 578 by the Lombards and rebuilt. Southeast of the castle are three burial grounds of varying sizes. 238 body graves have been documented. Exceptionally rich endowments were discovered in 33 of them, and the large number of noble metal objects is especially noteworthy. The majority of the graves are simple ground burials. In addition, there are a few walled constructions as well as a series of stone plate graves, a typically Romanic form. Analysis of the range of grave goods suggests that not only immigrant Lombards were interred in this necropolis, but also members of the established Romanic population. Grave 32
