This was taken back in about 1993, I think. It was certainly before they did the first phase of redevelopment round there, which as far as I recall involved demolishing the bridge at the far end of the station from this shot and installing fake rails in the surface of the pavement. I note with amusement that now the station site is being developed out of all recognition, some folk on the internet believe these rails to be genuine remnants of the area's industrial heritage! Anyway, I digress. This was taken from the old Wednesfield Road bridge over the old Great Western line, looking at the North end of Wolverhampton's second railway station. This was one of the last buildings Brunel himself had a hand in designing. Now the area has been unsympathetically developed as a Premier Inn type hotel and some sort of hideous bar; the main station building (to the right of this shot) and canopy still exist but it all looks a bit lost among the modern architecture. Personally, I preferred it like this.
