| Description |
English: Wolsingham railway station platform The platform is very long for a small rural branch line. I was informed that it had to be extended to accommodate excursion specials that may have up to eight carriages. I'm not certain by how much it was extended if any, On the opposite side is the remains of a second platform which is also very long. Although now single track it was once a two track railway at this point.
The original line opened in 1861 and closed in 1955 although the line remained opened until 1993 as far as Eastgate Cement Works. The line reopened in 2004 but closed in 2005 as a result of financial difficulties. Under a new operating company the line has reopened. |
