uldhere find a subject worthy of his greatest skill. A fewmiles up the river, at what is called the Middle Section,is one of the most magnificent pools in the Provinces. Continuing on up the river, the road soon becomesa mere path, and before many more miles are passed, theshores of the river become the only thoroughfare to bedepended upon. At the Three Forks one pauses for thefirst camping place, and he may here take all the seatrout, and good ones, too, that he can dispose of. Infact the pools are now all filled with these delicious fish,with now and then a specimen of the higher colored butless gamy spotted trout. At every cast in the largerpools one is likely to rise a salmon, so that it is betterto carry strong tackle along, and not depend on a lightsingle-handed trout rod. Near this point are the celebrated falls, two hun-dred feet in height, and beyond these the salmon do notpass. If you ever, visit the island, and I hope you will,when you leave Northeast Margaree on your return home,I advise, by all means, instead of returning to Baddeckby the road over which you came, to drive to Lake Ains-lee and thence to Whykokomagh on the Little Bras DOr,and thence by steamer to Baddeck. The scenery through-out most of this thirty odd miles to Whykokomagh issuperb.
