The whole feathered wealthof a New England summer would not equal it, it seemsto me. Why, I flushed an English snipe at almost everyten rods, every time I walked through a meadow, andthis in the breeding season, too, and saw quite a varietyof other shore birds that I always supposed bred nowheresouth of Labrador. Yes, Frere, I added, as we settledourselves for a nights sleep, you must go to Cape Bre-ton to see bird life, if for nothing else. I think I shall go, answered my friend, and notalone to see the birds either, I hope to see some of thebig salmon of the Margaree, also.
