Wirral variant bow brooch
Description
English: Cast copper alloy Wirral variant type bow brooch, dating to the 2nd century.

The head comprises a series of five steps, all bar one is decorated with a line of punched dots. The head loop is missing. A pair of pierced lugs on the back of the head support the axis bar. The bronze pin survives. The curving bow is decorated with three vertical ribs with a groove between each. The central rib is prominent. At the base of the bow is a circular boss. The incomplete leg is ridged on its front surface. It narrows towards the foot which is now missing.
