English: Photograph of two adult individuals of the solenogaster aplacophoran species Wirenia argentea. “These animals are abundant on silt and mud in water depths of about 150-600 m in the northern European Atlantic” (Todt & Wanninger, 2009).[1] The anterior ends of the upper and lower individuals are to the left and to the top, respectivley. The yellowish spheroid structure near the posterior portion is the pericardium filled with eggs. Information on the animals and length of scale bar are inferred from/according to figs. 1A and B and accompanied figure captions in Todt & Wanninger (2009).
Deutsch: Foto zweier geschlechtsreifer Individuen von Wirenia argentea (Mollusca: Aplacophora: Solenogastres). Diese Tiere finden sich häufig auf schlammigem Substrat in Wassertiefen von 150–600 m im Nordostatlantik (Todt & Wanninger, 2009).[1] Das vordere Ende des oberen und unteren Individuums befindet sich links bzw. oben. Die gelbliche spheroide Struktur nahe dem hinteren Körperende ist das mit Eiern gefüllte Perikard. Informationen über die Tiere und Länge des Maßstabsbalkens sind abgeleitet aus den Abb. 1A and B und den entsprechenden Bildunterschriften in Todt & Wanninger (2009).
