Description Built in 2015-2017, this contemporary arena was designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and Moody Nolan, and was previously known as the DePaul Arena and McCormick Place Events Center. The arena was built to serve as a basketball arena for DePaul University and as an events center for the adjacent McCormick Place Convention Center, as well as the home of the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. The arena has more than 10,000 seats, and the exterior features a large curtain wall at the lobby, a swooping concrete roof canopy that tapers towards the edges, metal panel-clad facades with curved corners, a vaulted roof over the arena’s interior, and bands of alternating glass curtain walls and metal paneled piers with setback upper tiers that ring the exterior of the building. The arena was built as part of a massive expansion of the convention facilities at McCormick Place, and anchors the north end of the complex.
