Winterweizen ist vor allem im Herbst nach der Saat erosionsanfällig, während im Frühjahr und Sommer der Schutz durch die Pflanzen und Wurzeln ausreichend ist und nur selten Erosion auftritt. Besonders problematisch ist die Winterweizenansaat nach Kartoffeln und Zuckerrüben, eine sehr häufige Fruchtfolgekombination im Untersuchungsgebiet. Die Bodenbelastung bei der Ernte dieser Vorkulturen ist sehr gross und sie bieten keine oder wenige Ernterückstände für eine schützende Mulch- oder Direktsaat. Der Saattermin ist häufig spät und teilweise bei ungünstigen Witterungsbedingungen, das Wachstum ist dann nur sehr gering und der Bodenschutz entsprechend schlecht.
