Description
English: Built by Ford as a B-24H-25-FO Liberator, 42-95084 (c/n 1849) was operated by the 785th Bomb Squadron, part of the 466th Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force and based at Attlebridge in Norfolk. She was coded ‘2U-P’ and had been named “Bird Dog”

On the 13th July 1944 she spun in shortly after taking off in bad weather, with the loss of all seven crew.

The crew were:- 2nd Lieutenant Adam Wunderlich - Pilot 2nd Lieutenant Milton Dobkin - Navigator Sergeant Ralph Fleming- Ball turret gunner Sergeant William Myers - Nose gunner Sergeant Harry Thomas- Top turret gunner Staff Sergeant Charles Thompson - Flight engineer / gunner and Sergeant William Mallory - Tail gunner

The site was excavated in 1979 and it was discovered that “Bird Dog”s bomb load was still intact. An RAF Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was brought in and detonated the bombs on site. Wings Museum, Balcombe, West Sussex, UK
