| Description |
English: Wind Turbine erected in NB3829 The first of the three wind turbines being erected on Arnish Moor stands in NB3829, as do the workers huts. This photograph, taken on 1st November 2006 shows the tower awaiting delivery of its blades, with a second tower in the process of construction in the background (I suspect it occupies another grid square). The third turbines erection was delayed for several months as it fell off a boat whilst en route to the Isle of Lewis!
Although these two turbines shown here have been up for over six months, they very seldom are seen to be turning to generate power. Unsurprisingly many people wonder if the environmental damage can be justified - or is the whole 'green energy' thing a big con serving only the interests of a few entrepreneurs? No doubt time will tell. |
