Summary
[edit]DescriptionWilmington Priory; site of Old Hall-geograph-1826435.jpg |
English: Wilmington Priory; site of Old Hall. The Parish Church of St. Mary & St Peter is adjacent to the Priory grounds. It was built by the founders of the Priory, which housed no more than three monks and their household, so to have built a chapel just for these few would have been superfluous. They built the church for the local people to share with the monks. The church was connected to the Priory by a covered cloister walk, and possibly also a short underground passageway to the crypt. |
