Summary
[edit]DescriptionWillis 1942 Military Jeep (2834535945).jpg | The Jeep (derived from General Purpose vehicle ? G.P.) was one of the most universally used military vehicles during World War II, seeing service in all theaters and being used by all branches of U.S. Armed Forces, as well as many of our allies. Some 689,000 Jeeps were built during the war. This example was built by the Ford Motor Company. It was recovered from Europe several years after the war and restored to its original U.S. Army condition. In the process indications were found that at one time it had been ?requisitioned? by the Navy, ?won back? by the Army and finally used by the German Police ? a story not so unusual during World War II and its aftermath. |
