Description
English: William Mowitt, the executive officer of the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration ship Oscar Dyson (R 224), and Clair Bersman, an assistant to U.S. Sen. Mark Begich, learn basic mooring procedures on the maritime security cutter USCGC Bertholf (WMSL 750) during Arctic Shield 2012 in Kodiak, Alaska, Aug. 21, 2012. Arctic Shield is a U.S. Coast Guard-directed exercise in conjunction with federal, state and tribal officials designed to test the Spilled Oil Response System as well as strengthen law enforcement and search-and-rescue capabilities in the Arctic regions of Alaska.
