Description
English: Full-length portrait of a man in uniform. Camp Jackson Papers and MHS stamp below image. "Copy of picture taken by J. Sidney Brown 8 [?] North 4th Street St Louis, Mi Nov 1861 of Wm Bull [William Jeffry Bull written to the right] in "Camp Jackson" uniform of the Engineer Corps, Missouri State Guard one month before going south with the "Camp Jackson" prisoners who were exchanged for Genl Mullinkens command captured by Genl Price at Lexington, Mo, in Sep 1861." (written on reverse side of image).

Sgt. William Bull was a member of the engineer corps that was taken prisoner during the Camp Jackson affair but was later exchanged.

Bull went to Memphis where he joined the 3rd Field Battery, Missouri Light Artillery (online digital military records).
