One of three watercolors by William Heny Hunt that were included in the 1836 Spring Exhibition of the Society of Painters in Water-colours. They show the same boy, perhaps the artist's nephew, also named William Henry Hunt (b. 1827), situated in different poses on the beach at Hastings, England. The model wears the same cap in all three works.
