William Fitchie's belongings, item 2
Description
English: William Fitchie served in the 3rd Battallion of the Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. He joined up on 19th September 1914 and was discharged on 5th October 1918. He was shot in the back of the head and blinded. This is recorded on his discharge certificate.

He returned to Preston then moved to Penwortham. The collection includes the Discharge Certificate, his medical treatment card, his pay book and a Christmas Greeting card dated December 1918 from St Saviour's Church in Preston. Also a tin containing four British and his dog tags as well as an engraved pin. William was the grandad of Pauline Fitchie who still lives in Preston. There is also a studio photograph of William in uniform.

The items are in an original bag belonging to William.
