Summary

[edit]
Description
English: William Blake House Tower block in Marshall Street named for the poet and visionary born close by in 1757. Marshall Street was the site of the infamous 'pest houses' in the C17 whither victims of the plague were removed and sequestered from the well until they died and were then buried on the same spot in huge plague pits. Bones of these unfortunates have come to light here and many more lie in the ground still.
