Mr. Kittridge A. Wing, Superintendent Gettysburg National Military Park Gettysburg, Pa. Dear Mr. Wing: I am enclosing a copy of letter I sent Mr. Donald De Lue, the sculptor of the Confederate Monument at Gettysburg, under date of December 31, 1964. I hope you will approve the inscription. In order that you may have some idea of this statue I am also enclosing a copy of letter which was sent to about 60 outstanding leaders of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and Sons of Confederate Veterans under date of October 16, 1964. I have tried to give my impressions of this wonderful statue. I think you will be impressed with it when you see it. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to you for all the wonderful help and cooperation you have given us with respect to this project. With Every Good Wish for a Most Healthful, Happy and Prosperous New Year! Most sincerely, William M. Beard
