a ten-year-old wild bee nesting box, useless for wild bees

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A ten-year-old wild bee nesting box in a garden in Unterentfelden, Switzerland. The holes have been drilled into the wrong side of the wood, allowing cracks to form swiftly and thus rendering it useless for any wild bee. The majority of holes have never been used for nesting. If you are building such a nesting box, please remember to always take large pieces of wood from indigenous broad-leaved trees, and to drill holes into the bark instead of the cut surface.
