Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Wild boar (Sus scrofa) There are several wild populations of this species in Great Britain; some originate from animals which have escaped from wildlife parks (in Hampshire, Dorset and Kent) whilst others were re-introduced deliberately, for instance in East Sussex, south Devon and in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. Wild boars became extinct in Great Britain and Ireland by the 17th century.

The animals depicted here belong to Bridge Farm > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1063490 and are farmed for their meat. The Weavers Way leads past their enclosure; the edge of Bryant's Heath can be seen in the background.

This section of the Weavers Way follows the dismantled railway trackbed of the former Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway. The Weavers Way is a long-distance footpath which links Cromer with Great Yarmouth; the path has a length of 90 kilometres and passes through the Norfolk Broads.
