Description

It's said to be the most photographed spot in Glacier National Park, so it was certainly worth a stop on the scenic Going-to-the-Sun Road. Wild Goose Island sits out in the middle of Saint Mary Lake on the eastern side of the park. Surrounding the lake are mountain peaks rising up several thousand feet over the lake surface.

After starting the scenic drive at sunrise from Lake McDonald and the west entrance, it was about mid-day by the time we got to the other end of the park. Still, the scene was brilliant with a clear sky (without smoke!) and nice reflections in the lake.
