Description
Deutsch: Wien WVB U-Bahnstation Karlsplatz: Ehemalige Stadtbahn-Pavillons im Oktober 1979. - Die beiden Pavillons wurden 1898-99 als Stahlskelettbauten mit vorgehängten Marmorplatten von Otto Wagner unter Mitarbeit von Max Fabiani errichtet. Die Blumenornamente schuf Josef Maria Olbrich. - Die Pavillons sollten in Verbindung mit dem U-Bahnbau abgerissen und entfernt werden, aber nach vielen Protesten seitens der TU-Studenten und der Wiener Bevölkerung wurden die historisch wichtigen Gebäude nach dem Abbau 1977 wieder aufgestellt, 1,5 m über dem alten Platzniveau. - Rechts im Bild befindet sich die Karlskirche.
