| Transcript | The Votivkirche is a handsome and imposing Gothic edifice which stands in Maximilianplatze, and was erected in 1856 to commemorate the fortunate escape of the Emperor Franz Joseph from the hands of an assassin. The facade is particularly beautiful with its two twin spires towering aloft to a height of nearly 330 feet. The exterior and interior decorations are on a very lavish scale. |
