Description
English:
Wide view of the cityscape of Santa Fe from the northeast, New Mexico, ca.1895-1905
Photograph of a wide view of Santa Fe from northeast New Mexico, ca.1895-1905. The most prominent structure visible to the left of center is the Saint Francis Cathedral which has two bell towers. This neo-Gothic cathedral was built by Archbishop Lamy. The colonial main plaza in Santa Fe is a square area of trees surrounded by buildings to the right of the cathedral near the right edge of the image. A cultivated field is in the foreground. Further back houses and other buildings huddle among trees before the flat undeveloped landscape takes over toward the distant mountain ranges.
