Description

PETER HENDERSON & CO., NEW YORK — WHOLESALE CATALOGUE— PLANTS.
13
CANNA, PRESIDENT CLEVELAND.
This variety has attracted widespred attention the past season, and is conceded to
be one of the very finest introductions of late years. Color is bright, distinct orange
scarlet; one of the showiest varieties. It is a fine, compact, vigorous grower, produc-
ing immense trusses and flowers of very large size. (See cut.) Price, roots,
$2.00 per doz.; plants, ready May ist, $3.00 per doz.
CANNA, ROSEMAWR.
A grand new pink Canna. Its enormous masses of flowers and exquisite
color attract immediate attention. The flowers are large, frequently two
-inches across. The color is bright, rosy pink, elegantly mottled with rose,
shaded rich golden-yellow at throat. The trusses are immense and borne
just the right distance above the foliage to show to best advantage. The
plant makes a vigorous, handsome growth, averages about three feet in
height, and is an early and continuous bloomer. (See cut.) Price, roots,
$12.00 per 100 ; plants, ready May ist, $3.00 per doz.
CANNA, AUGUSTA.
A very striking and distinct new gilt edge variety. Flowers five inches
across, intense scarlet, widely bordered with clear golden-yellow. Grows
about 3 feet high, and bears large, open spikes of rich and handsome
flowers. Entirely different from all others in color and form. (See cut.)
Price, roots $16 00 per 100 ;
plants, ready May ist, $3.00
per doz.
JAMES WOOD.
We have pleasure in offering
this fine new Canna, raised by
Alexander Marshall, gardener
to Mr. John B. Dutcher, Pawl-
ing. N. Y. , and was named by
the latter gentleman in honor
of his friend, Mr. Jarnes Wood,
of Mount Kisco, N. Y., Presi-
dent of the Eastern New York
Horticultural Society. The
color is very distinct, being a
true burnt-orange, the shade
so popular at the present time.
It is handsome in foliage and
habit, blooms most profusely,
grows in ordinary seasons
about four to four and one-
half feet high. The substance
of the petals is one of its ex-
celling merits ; the flowers,
though large and of fine finish,
hold on better than most Can-
nas, and so withstand the sum-
mer winds. These two latter
features are very pronounced
in this fine new Canna. Price,
50c. each, $5.00 doz.

black buds and very close heads giving it a still daiker look.
Duchess of Marlborough. This is of much stronger growth than the Duke,
