Born 1836 at Lisnamallard County Tyrone Ireland. to John and Mary Jane Buchanan, nee Blacker. 27 April 1878 he remarried Wilhelmina Letitia Molony at St Andrew Church, Dublin. widower, Major Royal Irish Fusiliers Militia. Residing at Omagh Ireland.

2nd son Major, Lewis Ernest George Whitla BUCHANAN Duke of Wellington’s 10th West Riding Regiment formerly 4th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 4 September 1868 at Edenfell Omagh, County Tyrone. Father was Captain in Tyrone Militia. Fought in the 2nd Boer War 1899-1901 with the 4 Inniskilling Fusiliers and the great war. In France 24 August 1915 with the Duke of Wellington’s 10th West Riding Regiment. He was part of Captain Tunstill’s Company in the 10th Battalion Addresses on his Medal Index Card. 2 Castle Grove, The Park Nottingham and Glencree, Omagh Co Tyrone. Died 1958 at 27 Homecroft Drive Uckington Gloucestershire

Source for the following http://tunstillsmen.blogspot.com/2014/09/saturday-19th-september-1914.html Lewis Ernest Buchanan was granted a temporary commission, with the rank of Captain, to serve with 10th Battalion; he would later be promoted second-in-command, under Col. Crawford. At the age of 45 Buchanan had long military career behind him. He was from an Irish Protestant background and had been first commissioned in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1888, rising eventually to the rank of Major. He had retired from the Army in 1908 and had set up home in Omagh, County Tyrone, with his wife, Constance, and their three daughters. He served his local community as a J.P.
