| Description |
I like exploring both deserts and mountains. When you are on a glacier, it is a sort of white snow desert. I certainly felt that way climbing up the Emmons glacier last year, at night with a pretty good wind blowing snow and ice crystals at us. It was really nice to have goggles and a balaclava to cover up your face. Down in the lower right is Steamboat Prow. Camp Schurman is tucked next to that at 2880 meters (9440 feet). The Route I have gone up the mountain is via the Emmons Glacier in the center of the photo. The Winthrop Glacier is to the left. The Inter Glacier is also visble, it is one top of Steamboat Prow. 12q3 470 |
