| Description |
English: White Sheet Castle. Turning 90 degrees to the right after taking 950602 gave this view of a wheat field and the steep slope up to White Sheet Castle, which is really an ancient fort.
Current thinking suggests these "forts" were not built as defensive structures but were more in the nature of hilltop villages. Populations were much smaller at that time and the country wilder with wolves and bears and the "fortifications" were built for security. |
