Summary

[edit]
Description
English: White Nancy, Bollington (from Blaze Hill) White Nancy is a well-known local landmark above the town of Bollington, Cheshire. It is positioned on the top of Kerridge Hill overlooking Bollington (at SJ939771). White Nancy commands extensive views across Cheshire and on clear days, Snowdonia in Wales can also be seen. The grade-II-listed edifice was originally an open summer house that was built by the Gaskell family of Ingersley Hall, Bollington in about 1817. It is stone built with external rendering and regularly painted white in order to maintain its visibility. It was erected to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo; however the origins of the name are uncertain.
