Summary
[edit]DescriptionWhite Mulberry tree at Fulham Palace - geograph.org.uk - 835695.jpg |
English: White Mulberry tree at Fulham Palace. The white mulberry is the one used to feed silkworms. See also detail of this tree 835697. There is also a black mulberry in the grounds - better fruit, not good for silkworms. Fulham Palace has a fine collection of trees. In the 17th Century Bishop Compton imported trees such as magnolia from Virginia http://www.lbhf.gov.uk/externalsite/Fulhampalace/The_Gardens.asp. There are tree tours available in the park. This photo was taken during a guided tour as part of London Open Squares week-end http://www.opensquares.org/ . |
