Summary

[edit]
Description White-tailed deer on Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge often utilize the heavy cover provided in the wetland units. This mid summer buck has antlers in velvet that are nearly fully regrown. Within a month, blood flow to the antlers will cease. As the antlers dry and harden, the velvet will be rubbed off and by early fall he will have his polished set of new antlers ready to go. Photo: Tom Koerner/USFWS
